Dr. Kathryn McFadden purchased the practice in 1991. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1990. Dr. McFadden takes tremendous pride and a personal interest in caring for all our clients and patient’s needs. Dr. McFadden retired from practicing medicine in December 2012, but currently owns and maintains an active interest in the business.
Dr. April Mackey began practicing at Towne South Animal Hospital in January of 2012. Dr. Mackey, a Shreveport Native, graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She previously lived and worked in Las Vegas, Nevada for 3 years prior to joining our team. Dr. Mackey graduated from Byrd High School and also attended Louisiana Tech for her undergrad degree. Dr. Mackey has a husband and son at home. Outside of work Dr. Mackey enjoys cooking, fishing, watching football, and spending time with her boys. Her veterinary interests include wellness, dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry.
Dr. Leia Hunter began practicing at Towne South Animal Hospital in October of 2011. She graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge in May of 2010, finishing in the top 3 of her graduating class. After receiving her veterinary license, Dr. Hunter completed a one-year medicine and surgery internship at The Ohio State University. Dr. Hunter is originally from Bogalusa, Louisiana and met her husband while attending undergraduate school at LSU in Baton Rouge. Her personal interests include spending time with her two children, reading Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels, and watching LSU and Saints football. Her veterinary interests include surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. In January 2017, Dr. Leia Hunter became the Towne South Team’s Medical Director.
